USS Harry S. Truman Sailors Conduct Firefighting Drills

SAILORS ASSIGNED TO THE V-3 DIVISION ABOARD
USS HARRY S. TRUMAN CONDUCTED A FIRE FIGHTING DRILL IN THE HANGAR BAY SEPTEMBER 25TH. THE
SAILORS PRACTICED COMBATING AN AIRCRAFT FIRE WHILE ALSO SAVING PERSONNEL THAT ARE TRAPPED
IN THE FLAMES. “WE HAD A FIRE DRILL GOING ON. WE’RE SIMULATING
A FIRE ON AN AIRCRAFT IN THE CENTERLINE OF BAY ONE AND BASICALLY IT WAS AN OPEN FUEL
CELL AND WE HAD TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. SAILORS ARE PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE
IN DRILLS IN ORDER TO TRAIN THEM FOR REAL TIME SCENARIOS AND ACTUAL CASUALTIES THAT
COULD OCCUR IN A FORWARD DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENT. “WHAT I LEARNED FROM THIS DRILL WAS THAT WE
NEED TO RESPOND QUICKLY, GET THERE AND IF NECESSARY SAVE LIVES BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT WE
DO AS HOT SUIT, AS SOON AS THE FIRE’S PUSHED BACK FAR ENOUGH WE RESCUE PEOPLE. ON BOARD USS HARRY S TRUMAN, I’M PETTY OFFICER
DONALD WHITE.

  • "presented opportunities to help in the fire". Hilarious. Half of us were asleep. Fuck that ship, and fuck the navy.
