TARGET 11 FIRST REPORTED ON THE CONDITIONS INSIDE THIS EAST LIBERTY FIRE HALL. THAT WAS FOUR YEARS AGO. NOW IT IS FINALLY CLOSING DOWN FOR REPAIRS. SENDING FIREFIGHTERS TO STANTON HEIGHTS, SQUIRREL HILL AND LINCOLN-LEMINGTON. WE ARE LIVE. THE HEAD OF THE FIREFIGHTERS UNION TOLD YOU HE WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF MORE STATIONS CLOSE. Reporter: YEAH, EXACTLY RIGHT. HE SAID MORE STATIONS MAY HAVE TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY FOR REPAIRS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. BUT HE SAID HE IS CONFIDENT THE PLAN IN PLACE WILL PROVIDE THE SAME LEVEL OF FIRE RESPONSE. WERE CREWS COMPLETING REPAIRS AT THE FIRE STATION IN EAST LIBERTY DISCOVERED MORE SERIOUS STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS. THERE ARE SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS AT THE BUILDING. WE NEED TO DO IT NOW. FOR EVERYBODY SAFETY WE HAVE TO MOVE THE FIREFIGHTERS OUT. Reporter: THE CITY WILL TEMPORARILY CLOSE THE STATION RELOCATE FIREFIGHTERS AND ENGINES TO THREE NEARBY STATIONS, THE CLOSES IN STANTON HEIGHTS. OBVIOUSLY THE FIRST REACTION WAS WE WERE CONCERNED WE WOULD BE ABLE TO ADEQUATELY RESPOND IN THAT AREA. THE CITY HAS MADE EFFORTS TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE ADEQUATE COVERAGE. Reporter: FOUR YEARS AGO TARGET 11 EXPOSED HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES INCLUDING BLACK MOLD, WATER LEAKS AND CHIPPED PAINT AT THE SAME FIRE STATION AND OTHERS AROUND THE CITY. THE CITY DIDN’T PUT ANY REAL DOLLARS INTO ANY FACILITIES FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS DURING THE TOUGH FINANCIAL TIMES. IT WAS BAND-AIDS. Reporter: AFTER YEARS OF NEGLECT, THE ADMINISTRATION HAS BEEN WORKING TO UPGRADE FIRE, POLICE AND EMS STATIONS. THEY ADDRESSED A FEW ISSUES WITH LEAKS AND THINGS LIKE THAT THAT WE WERE HAPPY WITH. NOW IT IS MORE OF A STRUCTURAL AREA THEY NEED TO ADDRESS. Reporter: THOSE STRUCTURAL REPAIRS WILL TAKE 3 TO 6 MONTHS
