OFFICE IS GRADUATING ITS CLASS OF 2015. 15 WOMEN WILL GRADUATE FROM IMMERSION MAINE — EMERGE MAINE WITH KEYNOTE SPEAKER EMILY KANE. SHE WAS THE DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR THE SECOND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT LAST YEAR. SHE LOST THE HOUSE SEAT TO REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN BRUCE POLIQUIN. MANY GRADUATES FROM THE PROGRAM ARE ALREADY PLANNING BIDS FOR LOCAL AND STATE OFFICES. FIREFIGHTERS ON SKIS. EVERY YEAR THEY RACE FOR A GOOD CAUSE. MORGAN STERN DEVONTE — MORGAN STURDIVANT HAS THE STORY OF THE WOMEN AND THE FAMILY BEHIND THE 12 ANNUAL MARY’S FIREMAN FOR A CURE. MORGAN: MARY ALLEN WAS A LONGTIME MOTHER, SISTER, WIFE, FRIEND, AND SHAWNEE PEAK EMPLOYEE. SHE WAS A LONGTIME FIGHTER OF BREAST CANCER. PART OF HER FIGHT WAS FOR THE FIREMAN FOR A CURE RACE. YOU GET TO SNOWBOARD, YOU GET TO SKI, YOU HAVE FUN WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND RAISE MONEY AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL END UP FINDING A CURE FOR CANCER. HER VISION WAS TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER AND TO HAVE AN EVENT THAT WOULD HOPEFULLY GROW OVER THE YEARS. MORGAN: AND IT HAS. IT IS AN EXCITING EVENT. A LOT OF WORK GOES INTO IT BUT IT IS FOR A WORTHWHILE CAUSE. MARY AND WAYNE STARTED THE RACE IN 2004 RIGHT TO IN THE SUGAR SHACK. MORGAN: ALTHOUGH HER FIGHT WITH CANCER ENDED BACK IN 2005, HER MEMORY AND THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE HER WILL CONTINUE THE BATTLE. EACH YEAR HER FOOTPRINT AND THAT — ON THE MOUNTAIN GETS LARGER AND LARGER AND SHE WAS THRILLED TO KNOW THAT IT MADE A DIFFERENCE AND SHE TAUGHT HER FAMILY AND THOUSANDS OF OTHERS THAT YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. TODAY IS PROOF OF THAT. MORGAN: IN BRIDGETON, MORGAN STURDIVANT.
