Firefighters at Weathersfield Twp. festival asking for donations to help fellow fireman

June means festival time in the Valley and one this weekend is just getting started. The Weathersfield Fire Department festival kicked off today. It runs thru Saturday. This year you can help a firefighter who is battling for his life. Rod Cowan was there earlier today. His story is new since 6. :15 – :19 :55 – 1:09 “I THINK IS PRETTY GOOD. ITS FUN. BUT IF IT WAS A LITTLE HOTTER IT WOULD BE MORE FUN.” Perk Irwine and his kids were some of the 100 people who battled the gusty winds and soggy conditions for the first day of the Weathersfield Flag Day festival. “WE WERE JUST DRIVING BY AND DECIDED TO STOP AND SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON” This is the first time they have been here and his daughter wanted to tackle the climbing wall. “THATS THE HARDEST PART RIGHT THERE” The Flag Festival is in its 6th year and has plenty for the kids to do. Besides the climbing wall, there are several Bounce Houses, slides, games and plenty of food for the entire family. One of the best stops for food is the Weathersfield Fire Department where you can dine on their famous fries and one of the most delicious sausage sandwiches in the Valley. This year at the Food Stand is a giant firefighters boot for donations to 33 year old Justin Glaum. Justin is a 10 year veteran of the Weathersfield Fire department. He is literally battling for life after complications with injuring his foot. 100 percent of the boot drive donations go to help with Justin’s medical bills. The Boot Drive for Justin will continue at McDonald Festival at the end of this month. In Weathersfield Township Rod Cowan WKBN 27 First News
