Firefighter suffers minor injuries during early morning Evansville fire

JAKE– WE BEGIN THIS MORNING IN EVANSVILLE WHERE FIREFIGHTERS ARE ON THE SCENE OF A HOUSE FIRE. IT BEGAN JUST BEFORE THREE THIS MORNING AT A HOME IN THE ELEVEN HUNDRED BLOCK OF EDGAR STREET. OUR CREW ON THE SCENE SAYS THERE WAS THICK BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT OF EVERY WINDOW OF THE HOME WHEN THEY ARRIVED. FIREFIGHTERS EVEN HAD A LADDER TRUCK RAISED TO THE SECOND FLOOR. ONCE THEY STARTED TO POUR WATER INTO IT, OUR CREW SAYS THAT’S WHEN QUITE A FEW FLAMES BECAME VISIBLE. NEIGHBORS TOLD US THEY BELIEVE THIS IS A VACANT HOME. AND WITHIN THE LAST 30 MINUTES–A SEARCH OF THE HOME REVEALED NOBODY INSIDE. ONE FIREFIGHTER DID SUFFER A MINOR INJURY. WE’RE TOLD THEY WERE TREATED AT THE SCENE AND NOT TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. JAKE– HAPPENING TODAY… INDIANA ATTORNEY GENERAL CURTIS HILL WILL GIVE AN UPDATE ON THE INVESTIGATION INTO ABORTED FETUSES DISCOVERED IN THE HOME OF A DECEASED DOCTOR.
