Brainerd Fire Department Responds To Several Brush Fires Over Easter Weekend


FACILITY SIMILAR TO THE ARENA. NO DECISIONS WERE MADE TONIGHT.>>>WELL, THE SNOW IS PRETTY MUCH GONE ACROSS MINNESOTA, BUT THAT MEANS WILD FIRE SEASON IS HERE, AND THE BRAINERD FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS BUSY OVER EASTER WEEKEND. OF FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO SEVEN BRUSH FIRES BETWEEN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, BUT LUCKILY MOST OF THEM WERE SMALL IS. ACCORDING TO BRAINERD FIRE CHIEF TIM HOLMES, THE LARGEST FIRE BURNED 10 TO 15 ACRES AND NONE OF THE FIRES DAMAGED ANY STRUCTURES.>>A FEW THAT WE WENT TO WERE THREATENING STRUCTURES BUT NO STRUCTURES WERE BURNED. NOT AN UNUSUAL TIME TO BE HAVING THESE FIRES WITH THE WEATHER THE WAY IT’S BEEN, YOU KNOW, DRYER, WARMER, A LITTLE WINDY OBVIOUSLY.
